MEET SARAH MARTIN…

I purchased my first Australian Shepherd in 2007 and joined the Stock Dog Club at Lakeland College in Vermilion in 2009. I have been addicted ever since! My first year was a complete eye opener in the world of working dogs! I was amazed at what a stock dog could do with the right training. I was quick to realize how they can benefit the bottom line of a ranching operation, the amount of steps they can save a person, and the fun to be had out trialing.

I have been involved with the Lakeland College Stock Dog club since 2009 - influencing well over 100 dog/handler teams. In 2016 I began starting and training client dogs. Through out those years I have worked with a number of different breeds, ages, and talents. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled around the world teaching clinics. This includes the USA, Europe, and Canada - I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to build many relationships through dogs!

At home, along with my husband and 3 kids, we run a 600 head cow/calf operation, which includes purebred Red Angus and a commercial herd of Angus/Hereford/Simmi influence. In 2017 we added 150 head of commercial sheep to the operation.

My goals as a coach are to help educated handlers not only about working their dogs on stock, but about stockmanship, dog behavior, and building the confidence to help them reach their potential. I want to help handlers understand that training stock dogs is not black and white - there are many different ways to accomplish a desired result. The key is to find the method that works best for each dog.
